Sammy Joe Temple.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1994 and spending her childhood between both the greater Sacramento and Stockton, California area and Baltimore, Maryland, Sammy Joe Temple is a visual artist who currently is residing in New York City. She attended Pratt Institute's Utica, New York campus for two years, refining her fine arts but also concentrating on advertising, before moving to Brooklyn to continue on with her schooling for one more year at Pratt Institute's main campus. Joe now focuses on exploring ways to depict women, black Americans, people with abnormal mental dispositions, and the disadvantaged in relatable yet proud formats, and is looking to spend more time art directing photoshoots, short films, and advertisements in the near future as well. In a desire to expand her practiced artistic mediums, she has taken up occasional acting as well, and can be seen briefly in Spike Lee's film Chiraq and Netflix show She's Gotta Have It. More of her work, specifically fine art related, can be found here. In addition to her schooling at both the Pratt Institutes campuses and the school of life, Sammy Joe has also completed D&AD's New Blood Shift Program in NYC and is subsequently working as a Jr. Art Director at Edelman NY where she is honing and expanding her creative skillset.
